OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID REFRESHER

Overview

This course has been designed to refresh the skills of currently certified Occupational First Aiders whose certificates are no more than 2 years old. This course which is two days in duration facilitates up to ten participants and will refresh each of the 8 modules as covered in the QQI Level 5 Occupational First Aid Course.

Course Aim

To ensure that existing QQI Level 5 Occupational First Aiders have updated their skills to effectively and confidently respond in the case of an emergency.

Course Programme

The course programme is delivered in accordance with the QQI guidance and is divided into 8 units;

• First Aid in the Workplace
• Patient Assessment
• Respiratory Emergencies
• Cardiac First Response
• Wounds & Bleeds
• Altered Level of Consciousness
• Musculoskeletal Injuries
• Burns & Scalds, Chemical, Poison & Electric Shock

All the above modules as covered in the initial 3 day course will be refreshed with a particular focus on practical skills.

Who Should Attend?

All QQI Level 5 Occupational First Aiders whose cert is due to expire or has expired with no more than 3 months.

Assessment & Certification

A multiple choice question paper together with skills assessments will be carried out by the instructor. All participants who successfully complete the course will be issued with an Occupational First Aid Refresher certificate which is valid for 2 years.
