Overview
The dangers associated with use of MEWP’s in the workplace are often underestimated. Incidents involving MEWP’s are usually serious and often fatal.
Therefore having trained operators is not just a legal requirement under the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 but also essential for your safety management.
This ½ day course has been designed for experienced operators of scissors, boom or articulated MEWP’s with no previous training. The course will be delivered by RTITB Qualified Instructors.
Course Aim:
To ensure that the experienced operators can competently and safely operate MEWP’s whilst in the workplace.
Course Programme:
The course is delivered to a group of 3-4 operators and includes theory lessons together with a high volume of practical demonstrations and exercises.

- Hazards Associated with MEWPs
- General Safety Precautions
- Inspection & Maintenance Procedures
- Positioning & Stability
- Battery Care & Re-Fuelling
- Start, Stop and Steer
- Raising & Lowering the MEWP
- Weight Assessment
- Manoeuvring in awkward places
- Assessing the Work Area
Who Should Attend?
Experienced MEWP Operators with more than 6 months operating experience but with no previous certification.
Assessment & Certification
Theoretical and Practical Assessments will be completed by each participant to ensure that they have reached the set standard. On successful completion of the course participants will be issued with a certificate which is valid for 3 years.
